Well Hello Yellow

When looking for purses for my upcoming honeymoon I came across this basket weave handbag with mustard yellow leather accents. And last night at the mall as I walked by the Kate Spade store, the Hello Yellow window display brought it back to mind. I'm not typically a fan of yellow, but these sandals and accessories have me rethinking my stance.

What do you think about yellow? Take it or leave it?

You know that I love taking existing objects and repurposing them. I used train cases to store wedding DIY projects and then to hold, transport, and display other DIY projects at the wedding. And I'm collecting vintage luggage to replace our storage baskets that cubes doesn't really like.

There are tons of other neat objects available that you can use in a Rustic or Retro themed wedding.

How about vintage drawers to hold your escort cards? A-H in the top one and I-Z in the bottom. Or get all four and split across four drawers.

Best thing about repurposing objects? You're making green[er] choices. You can have unique decor at reasonable prices. And if the objects you choose match your own design aesthetic for your home, you can reuse the objects for storage.

Etsy Tuesday: Finding the "Right" Outfit for Glamour Shots

Looking for a nightie set that screams glamour? Isn't old fashioned and avoids being cheesy? There's not much at your local mall store. Both Victoria's Secret and Fredrick's seem to scream cheap - that is if you're lucky enough to even find something in your size.

So after you've carefully planned every other detail of your wardrobe, do you just throw in the towel when it comes to nightwear? Try Etsy or your local vintage shoppes (not all specialize in high-end lingerie).

I did a quick search for sets from the 1960s (as you might remember our clothing theme is snatched from the 1950s, this is just an example of what's available if you want to stay true to a given era).

Etsy Tuesday: We're Going on Safari

When I first met Slim we were at the Alameda Point Antiques & Collectibles Faire. He'd just acquired a folding military field desk that he intended to take to Burning Man.

Images from Australia popped into my head. (Don't ask me why especially after he'd been talking about African Safaris - two different continents. Maybe it was just Hugh Jackman. But nonetheless, hot dry camping expeditions filled my imagination.)
